Motor city는 디트로이트 자동차 문화에서 출발한 피자의 기원을 공간으로 확장한 프로젝트이다.

디트로이트 스타일 피자는 자동차 공장에서 부품을 보관하던 철판에서 비롯된 음식으로, 산업적 환경과 밀접하게 연결되어 있다. 이 프로젝트는 이러한 배경을 공간 안에서 물리적으로 드러내는 방식으로 구성된다.

공간은 자동차를 구성하는 부품과 구조를 직접적으로 끌어와 재배치한다. 헤드라이트, 휠, 그릴과 같은 요소들은 가구와 오브제로 전환되며, 기존의 기능을 벗어나 새로운 사용 방식을 만들어낸다.

금속 패널과 볼트, 구조 디테일은 가려지지 않고 그대로 노출된다. 조립의 방식과 구축의 흔적이 공간 전반에 드러나며, 공업적 질감과 긴장감을 형성한다.

벽면 그래픽과 타이포그래피는 디트로이트라는 도시와 자동차 산업의 정체성을 직접적으로 반영하며, 공간에 명확한 방향성을 부여한다.

자동차 산업에서 출발한 물성과 구조는 음식이라는 매개를 거쳐 다시 공간으로 이어지며, 하나의 일관된 흐름을 형성한다.

Motor city is a project that expands the origins of Detroit automotive culture into a spatial experience.

Detroit-style pizza originated from steel pans used to store parts in automotive factories, making it a food deeply connected to an industrial context. This project translates that background into a physical spatial language.

Automotive components and structures are directly introduced and reconfigured within the space. Elements such as headlights, wheels, and grilles are transformed into furniture and objects, shifting away from their original functions to create new modes of use.

Metal panels, bolts, and structural details are intentionally left exposed. The methods of assembly and traces of construction are revealed throughout the space, forming an industrial texture and tension.

Graphic elements and typography reference Detroit and its automotive heritage, establishing a clear and consistent identity.

Material and structural logic originating from the automotive industry extends through food and into space, forming a continuous narrative.
